 The Question:
This element is the second most abundant in the Earth's crust. Humans have
been utilizing various forms of this element for over 4000 years. Silly
Putty and Portland cement have a connection to this element. A place and
time - Bell Labs, 1947 - are associated with this element. What element is
being described?

The Answer:
The element is Silicon (Si). Silicon comprises 28% of the Earth's
crust. Silly Putty was originally made by adding boric acid to silicone
oil. Silicates are used in making Portland cement (made mostly of calcium
silicates) which is used in building mortar and modern stucco, but more
importantly, combined with silica sand, and gravel (usually containing
silicate minerals like granite), to make the concrete. Silicon derives its
name from the Latin word "silex" which means "flint". Silicon
semiconductors made possible the invention of transistors at Bell Labs in
1947.

-I don't know what they'll do at the both Toms, but if they can use
Internet, then the two Toms arrange their time schedule and I'll give the
boys access with VPN to my CAD software and they can do some layout stuff
at night. Cadstar or Altium, whatever they prefer...

Week 63 Tom Carroll, Boeing
- Wow a three way tie is awesome. I would ask that Clumpy and Kloumpios
arrive on Tuesday to help celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday and then
come along as we attend Part 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
on Broadway on Wednesday. I know the boys will be able to explain some of
the secrets behind Harry's powers, I just hope they will share it with my
daughter. Should be a good time for all.

- I couldn't have won at a better time. I recently purchased a 5 acre lot
and I need to remove lots of trees, stumps and sticker bushes so my builder
can build a new 3 bedroom ranch home. Approximately 10 weeks ago I
herniated a disk in my back and I haven't been able to do a lot of work on
our lot so I have plenty of work for Clumpy and Kloumpios to do this week.

I hope everyone has a awesome week!
