I recommend the X-ray glasses shown in the back page of most Marvel publications.

Bob,

Not really my area, but I did find this on Wikipedia:

" Low energy photon radiation such as low energy X rays or gamma rays interacts better with the fill gas. Consequently, a typical design for low energy photon detection for these is a long tube with a thin wall or with an end window. The tube has a larger gas volume than a steel walled tube to give an increased chance of particle interaction." So make sure you don't buy any old Geiger counter which is really for gamma rays and alpha and beta particles. Buy a device specifically for x-ray detection.

That's all I have to add to the discussion.

Regards,

Bev

Subject: [TN] seeking recommendations on real-time hand held meter for use with X-ray system

Hello,

We're planning on bringing in an X-ray system for PCB / assembly inspection. Up to 80kV.

We want to purchase a reliable hand held radiation meter (Geiger

counter) to make sure we're not experiencing excessive radiation leaks. We're also setting up a dosimeter badge service.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Also interested in knowing about products that we should NOT buy (lots of meters on Amazon, but this isn't something we feel a need to cheap on).

Thank you!

Bob
