Ach,… Sorry.

It appears that perhaps I am using a term too esoteric even for the members of this community, or we have internally been using a term incorrectly.

We consider haloing to be when coating leaks into an unsealed connector body such that when you look down into the connector, coating has wet the molding around a connector pin socket, but not transferred to the metal contact . Hence you get a ring of fluorescence at that location. Often defected by some customers but we call it a process indicator. This same concept can be used on other non-circular artifacts also.

I think the term was used by a large defense customer of ours and we have more or less adopted it internally.

Subject: Re: [TN] Images of Conformal Coating "Haloing"

Rich, can you expand on what you mean by haloing? Like fish eyes? Or Dewetting?

If anyone has any image of coating "haloing " within a connector, header or like I would appreciate getting that image(s).
