Right, and each method has a committee or task group from which the method originated from (usually, some methods are very old not undergone recent revisions, and may be orphaned). The test methods often dont refer back to the standard itself (for example you won’t find 6012, 6013, 6018 mentioned in method 2.6.8), because the methods are also used by MIL-PRF, like 31032 or 55110.
