Gels are an option but it is very easy to exceed J-STD thickness when using
them. Better to seal a connector first with an RTV, if allowed, designed to
be used that thick. We generally mask conservatively and do not coat the
leads at all or, if absolutely required by the customer, go back and touch
them up by hand so they do not get flooded.
