Well, I kind of mentioned it in my other post, but SODer is always the way I learnt to pronounce it. Now I will say Dwight did have a unique way, SAW-der, but perhaps he lives in the northern part of the west where there are more trees in the area?  :-) :-) :-)

Hi TechNeters! Some light-hearted Friday discussion:

I'd like to get a group consensus regarding the pronunciation of the word "Solder".

Do you say "SODer" or "SOLDer"

I realize that it's certainly regional but I'm starting to hear more and more people pronouncing it "SOLDer" here in the states. Is it due to new people coming into the industry? More global interaction?

A friend of mine who's not in the industry once asked me why we say "SODer", since he thought it should be said "SOLDer". I didn't have an answer for him and it did make me wonder why.

Thoughts?
