Subject: [TN] Fwd: Element Quiz Question

Let's try this again - seems TechNet is having issues

---------- Forwarded message ----------

Here is the Element Quiz Question:

(Note - the Quiz will be going out more on Thursdays than Fridays for awhile due to my kayaking schedule!)

The Question:

This element is commercially valuable because it produces a long lived steady stream of beta particles. This element ignites spontaneously with air and explosively with water so it is typically shipped in mineral oil.

It is used in Geiger counters and as an air molecule removal "getter" in vacuum tubes. It is also used as a hydrogenation catalyst in the production of margarine. What element is being described?
