Here is the Element Quiz Question:

The Question:
Gunpowder was exploded in a long tube that contained this element which
created a million times standard atmospheric pressure causing this element
to change to a liquid. Only traces of this element are found in the Earth's
atmosphere. One proton and no neutrons. Which element is being described?

The Answer:
The element is Hydrogen (H). Solid metallic hydrogen will conduct
electricity. Hydrogen is lighter than air so it escapes Earth's gravity
into outer space (i.e. there is not much H in our atmosphere). Hydrogen's
name is derived from the Greek term "hydro gene" which means "water
former". Hubble Space Telescope is/was powered by nickel-hydrogen
batteries, which were finally replaced in May 2009, more than 19 years
after launch and 13 years beyond their design life.

The winner of the quiz is Carl Van Wormer, Cipher Engineering LCC, and he
will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week.

Carl just edged out David Lindblom for the first correct response. Everyone
is very good at getting the correct answer (well, except for Doug) so once
in a very great while I make the answer so obvious it seems wrong. Scott
Decker gets "honorable mention" for Deuterium and the wonderful humor of
the golf play-by-play image!

So far Clumpy and Kloumpios have done the following:

Past Quiz winners/tasks:
Week 1 Ravinder Ajmani, Western Digital
Week 1 Ron Feyereisen, SigmaTron Intl.

Week 15 Bhanu Sood, NASA
Week 16 John Maxwell
Week 17 Leland Woodall

Week 18 Leland Woodall
- The boys spent their weekend playing golf, and then enjoyed the NCAA
tournament games. Since they were in NC, they rooted heavily for UNC, and
their cheers were probably a deciding factor in the game. They were also
quite curious as to how folks could grow to be so tall.

Week 19 Tom Carroll, Boeing
- Love those firewalls. The boys will help review some environmental
testing for explosive atmosphere, Sand & Dust, Humidity and Salt Fog at a
local supplier. When they get bored with that they can help patch the roof
over my head that might have a developed a leak during the winter. After
that they can relax and go fishing in the bay or ocean near my house.

Week 20 Robert Kondner
- assisted with ????

Week 21 Tom Brendlinger, ClearMotion Inc.
- Up here at ClearMotion, I've got a board to design... but our recruiter
wants us looking through resumes instead. I think the boys can do that for
a while, and when they're done with that, they can start cutting out molds
for my upcoming cedar strip canoe.

Week 22 Carl Van Wormer, Cipher Engineering LCC
- assisted with ????

I hope everyone has a awesome week!
