Hi Victor-

Yes, soldermask should be completely impervious to every chemical known, unless I want to remove it and then I want a secret combination where it just sluffs off, leaving the board ready to coat again.

It also needs to be completely non-toxic, non-cancerous.

Easy to image and develop with non-hazardous chemistries which have no environmental issues.

Apply in any thickness from 5 microns to 150 microns and it images and cures perfectly.

Semi-gloss or flat so it doesn't hurt AOI.

Any color.

A perfect dielectric - no pinholes.

Great scratch resistance.

Blocks moisture ingress into the board.

AND CHEAP.

To quote Big Audio Dynamite: "....And if you ain't ill, it'll fix your car!"

Kind ok SM, thickness and correct polymerization, make the difference against solvents ( which kind of solvents?) reaction...

Oggetto: [TN] Solder mask

Fellow TechNetters;

   Should the PWB/PCB solder mask be IMPERIVIOUS to a wide range of process solvents?
   What is the temperature break down of solder mask?

Victor,
