If you are using a water soluble/washable paste (and will continue to do so) then you have to use an aqueous process, not solvent based vapour degreaser

Subject: [TN] PCBA Cleaning

Greetings All,

We are looking into increasing our board cleaning capacity here. We currently have a single Aqueous Batch cleaner and are looking at getting
another cleaner for production. The cleaner we have is coming up on 10
years old and we're looking at getting either another batch cleaner, inline spray or vapor degreaser type cleaner.

We're looking to get something that can clean underneath low standoff components...chips, QFNs and the like. Most of our designs have HV (1KV
- 2.5KV) and some have very low currents where leakage can be a real problem. We are using a water soluble paste and need to be sure that we clean completely underneath these parts.

I would really appreciate it if anyone on this list share would their experiences with the different types of board cleaners they've used. I don't have any experience with anything other than the aqueous batch cleaner we have and I'm looking for any experience with the other types of cleaners or the newer batch type cleaners.

Also, I've just found out about this forum. Is there an offline archive available? I've got questions that might have been answered in the past and would like to do some searching. Is there an offline mbox format available? I've searched thru the online archive, but it's somewhat difficult to search thru as I have a relativity slow internet connection.

Thank you kindly,
Chris
