Yes George the second paper please “ Effects of Non-Ionic Water Soluble Flux Residues”.
That sounds like the one.

Rich,
I only have two of Frank Zado's papers from 1983. One is "Increasing the Soldering Efficiency of Noncorrosive Rosin Fluxes" and the other is Effects of Non-Ionic Water Soluble Flux Residues". I think the second paper is the one you might be looking for because it talks about "A change in the polyglycol materials used in water soluble flux has resulted in dramatic improvement in the insulation resistance of circuit boards." If you think this is the paper you are looking for let me know and I will scan a copy of the paper and send it to you.
Regards,

Back in the 80 or 90's. Dr. Frank Zado of Bell Labs published a paper where he discussed in some great detail the used of Polyols in fluxes and their effect on the degradation of SIR. I think is was first published in an internal Quarterly Bells Labs magazine.
I am looking for a copy.
Does anyone recall if this paper ever got published as an IPC technical report technical paper?
Thanks for the consideration
