Well, I don't really think this is a case of an auditor searching to find
something.

Our internal ESD control plan lists "ionizing fans" on benchtops,
especially those areas that are doing tape masking, where self-balancing
air ionizers are a must. The auditor read that requirement, looked at the
plastic fan and asked "is that an ionizing fan"? Nope. Hence the finding.

The question was further asked (not by the auditor) whether we had to do
something with the huge metal blower fans on our aqueous wash system, as
those are not ionizing either. That one I can fend off, but had never had
the first issue come up before.

I am also trying to separate out the "theoretical" from the "practical".
