twist two wires together and use spot weld to form a small ball  (no  
solder), the potential  difference between the two material   is the  
one that measure the temperature.  you can attach the thermocouple  
use tape or physical clip (not at the junction you just formed by the  
spot weld), clip to the area you want to measure.  my 1.45 cents
