Au directly to Al?
I would be concerned over purple plague. Certainly an old problem with Au wire bonds on Al chip circuitry.

Ni on Al and Au on Ni are both fairly common. Lots of shops can do that.

Subject: [TN] plating gold to aluminum

TechNetters, who in the US knows of a machine shop which can plate gold to aluminum? I'm asking on behalf of colleagues and neglected to find out for sure if they meant electroplating or some other process. Any ideas would be welcome. Louis Hart
