Hi Steve,

I thought about how this might happen, and why sometimes bottom & sometimes top.

If the board house has more than one copy of the mask artwork for each side, one of those sets might have the image looking like a donut instead of a pancake (hey, I don't work in a board house, so I'm using the best tools I can muster at this hour of the morning). Multiple photo tools could be used simultaneously in a case of very high volume so multiple imagers could be utilized for parallel processing.

Just looking for a logical explanation.

Hi James,

This is a mixed technology board, so there is the SMT on the topside along with the through hole pattern. I don't know how the mask was applied.
