If you are soldering the SS to an electronic assembly it might be worth
considering pre-tinning using the aggressive flux first while it is still a
piece of structural stuff. Now you can handle it more easily, do your
aggressive cleaning and drying without fear of damaging your electronics.
The pre-tinned SS can then be reflowed using ordinary no clean, rosin or
whatever flux type you are using.

We had to solder drain wires to stainless steel transformer shields. We
used LA-CO N-3 flux purchased from McMaster-Carr. I have since used it for
many other stainless soldering applications with great success. Even
soldered stainless wire mesh to sheet stainless... awesome. The caveat is
to remove ALL the flux as it is quite aggressive. We learned that when a CM
didn't properly clean the flux residue and we ended up with lateen failures
Once cleaned you can't tell the difference in the solder joint.

Hi Guy! You will want to look at the OR and IN flux classifications for
soldering stainless steel as you will need a highly aggressive flux material
to accomplish the task. I have received good counseling from the folks at
Indium and Superior Flux on a couple of applications where I needed that
kind of flux power. Many of the IN fluxes " can solder concrete" so keep a
focus on your cleaning process after soldering. Good Luck.
