We recently had (Roger) Lowell Sherman of Defense Logistics Agency, Land and Maritime on a conference call during IPC/SMTA in Rosemont, IL. This was a meeting between NAVSEA Crane Executive Agent for Printed Circuits and a number of Defense contractors/fabricators.
My understanding is that companies will now qualify to MIL PRF 31032 and not to MIL PRF 55110. MIL PRF 55110 will not be withdrawn because there are a large number of legacy products that have called out 55110 qualification. I think that having MIL 31032 qualification will allow you to build product to 55110 in the future, but the QPL listing will gradually become only 31032.
Drop me a note off line and I will give you contact information for Lowell Sherman and Dave Corbett at DLA Land and Maritime in Columbus, OH. Do you have copies of the standards in hand?
Denny Fritz
