Sounds like the fellas are in for a great time. We're almost through with our TS audit, and so far things have gone well. The boys helped me prepare for it the last time here, so I'm going to reward them with the trip to the coast that I'd promised them. We're going to hit Jennette's Pier in Nags Head, and have several great seafood meals at Sam and Omie's across the street. Should be lots of fun.

Hoping no tropical storms or hurricanes will interrupt our plans!

Leland

If the boys get here in time they can go to the US Open Tennis Tournament with me tomorrow night. Just tell them that they can't go on the court when the players are playing. If they can’t make it by tomorrow they can still join me for the Yankees vs Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Should be a good time at both events.

Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day weekend.

Regards,
Tom

Subject: [TN] Element Quiz Answer

Here is the Element Quiz Answer

The Question:
This element is highly flammable, toxic and explosive. This element is the only metal that reacts with nitrogen at room temperature. Commercial applications of this element include medical, fluxes, greases and rocket propellants. Which element is being described?

The Answer:
The element is Lithium (Li)! Lithium is widely used in pharmaceuticals and also in the production of vitamin A. Many folks are familiar with lithium stearate for lubricating greases. Lithium will ignite when exposed to moist air so it is stored submerged in oil. If you have a lithium fire and you pour water on it, the fire just burns faster or you get an explosion.
Special chemicals or dry sand are used to extinguish lithium fires.

The winners of the weekly element quiz are Leland Woodall and Tom Carroll and they will share the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week.
Their answers came thru the Rockwell Collins Firewall at the same time.

As for Doug's response of "Teenium", the Element Quiz Arbitration Board
(EQAB) was going to reject his answer as Lithium is not a Lanthanide and no use of Teenium could be found after surveying the flux suppliers. However, EQAB deemed Doug's response in "potentially viable" as it perfectly described the observed behavior of adolescent children in an unnervingly accurate manner. So Doug's response is neither rejected or accepted this week.

So far Clumpy and Kloumpios have done the following:

-It'll be great to have the boys back to help with our TS-16949 audit prep.
They're gonna be busy reviewing documentation, so they're probably going to be somewhat bored. I'll make it up to them by taking 'em for a few days of saltwater fishing next time around!
