Here is the Element Quiz Quiz Answer:

The Question:
This element is produced by bombarding molybdenum with deuterons. This
element is one of the few artificially produced elements that has
commercial applications. It is added to iron to make a corrosion resistant
alloy, it is widely used in nuclear medicine and is used as an alloy metal
to produce super strong magnets. Which element is being described?

Bonus Question: Name one of the other "false elements" associated with this
element's location on the periodic table.

The Answer:
The element is Technetium (Tc)! Technetium was discovered in platinum ore
shipped from Columbia using X-ray spectroscopy by Noddack and Tacke in
Berlin in 1925. Only 55 ppm of technetium is required to transform iron
into a noncorroding alloy. Naturally occurring technetium is so scarce that
it is not considered to exist on Earth but its light spectrum signature is
evident in the stars. A few atoms of uranium undergo spontaneous nuclear
fission to produce technetium where it is estimated that 1 nanogram of Tc
per kilogram of uranium would exist but technetium's short half life makes
it virtually nonexistent on Earth.

Bonus Answer: These elements were "supposedly" element 43 but proven
incorrect: davyum, illmenium, lucium, nipponium, masurium.

The winners of the weekly element quiz are Leland Woodall and Mike Fenner
(bonus question) and they will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for
the week. The boys are going to spend time at Leland's first and then
continue on to Mike's roughly splitting the week in half.

There will be no Element Quiz on Aug 14 or 21 as the boys are going to meet
up with me in Spain to be baggage handlers during vacation.

So far Clumpy and Kloumpios have done the following:

Week 90 Pat Goodyear, PGE
- the boys arrived safe and sound, but they are complaining that no one
told them they had to carry water in buckets with yokes. They can't use
their tractors because of the security at the plant so it is a 11 mile hike
each way. I can't find enough Dew to keep them happy.

Week 91 Mordechai Kirshenbaum
- I met the boys at the Ben Gurion Airport yesterday (we were on the same
flight as I was coming back from the States) and put them to work
installing a new Event Detector system.

Week 92 Greg Munie, IPC

Week 93 Leland Woodall, CSTech Inc.

Week 93 Mike Fenner

Everyone have a safe week.
