Hi Ed! Phil and Jim are being way too nice and giving me too much credit!
The investigation they referenced was the NASA DoD Leadfree Soldering
project. It was a consortium effort with great work and analysis by a great
group of hard working people. Here is a link to the webpage on the project:

The same group of folks is working on a NASA DoD Phase 3 effort to take the
first two data sets and extend them to learn more about lead-free
soldering/processes.
