I have occasionally used my eye loupe magnifier, held over the lens of my cell phone camera with good results. I just purchased a little lens gizmo that clips on the end of my cell phone, centered over the camera lens. It is sold as a "lighted 60x clip-on magnifier", and cost me $6 (including postage, eBay). Along with the phone's variable 4X zoom, I can get some pretty good close-up pictures. It has a poor depth of field, and it has to get quite close to the components, so it isn't very good around big connectors, relays, and sockets. Remember . . . $6!
I'll send Steve some pictures, requesting that he post them to his picture archive.
Later,
Carl
