The other issue with having any contaminant on a component added to a pcb,
temporary or permanent, is transference. Operators can handle the boots and
possibly transfer the oil?

It may only be a second or third order phenomena but it is hard enough
nowadays with no clean or cleaning processes trying to keep boards
uncontaminated without trying to control a known de wetting problem.
