You can never tell even if supplier claims they do not .

Not always an issue if they do , especially if they only come in contact with a non-conductor keep out zone that does get coated (touched up) later .

Subject: [TN] Do Rubber conformal coat Masking Boots have some sort of mold release compound on them?

Hi All,

Just got some black ESD rubber masking boots for some blade terminals for a board that we dip in Humiseal 1A33, and noticed that there is shadowing around the base of the terminals like something was repelling the coating away from them, maybe some sort of mold release compound? Tried dipping without the boots and we don't see the shadow. I got the boots to keep the coating from getting on the terminals so that we weren't sitting there with a conformal coat removal pen cleaning the terminals up after we dipped the boards.

I called the manufacturer of the boots and asked about the issue, and he said they would get back to me. Haven't heard anything yet. I'll try to get a picture that shows you what I'm talking about...

Steve
