Here is further detail from the NPL database after registering to see defects. I don't know if Steve will want to contribute some of his defect pictures or not. Denny

Many thanks for registering on the National Physical Laboratory Defect Database. This is a live database and we will continue to add more defects to complement your online submissions: http://defectsdatabase.npl.co.uk

The database has over 100 defects that have been populated from cooperation with worldwide industry sources and from our own research studies. This has resulted in a unique resource, free for industry to use.

If you have a specific defect type not covered or have a current process problem with no solution please enter it on the database. http://defectsdatabase.npl.co.uk/forms/form3.html

If you have any other enquires or need technical assistance on a wide range of issues please contact Kate Clayton ([log in to unmask])

 Many thanks,

The National Physics Lab in Great Britain maintains a photo galary of defects. It can be sorted by type of defect you want. Go to site

   http://defectsdatabase.npl.co.uk/defectsdb/defects_query.php

You will have to enter a password and complete a simple security check to get in. Hope you can find what you need there.

Hi All,

I'm helping some Ham Radio buddies out identifying failed SMD solder

joints. I have a ton of through hole pictures but alas no SMD

failures.

Does anyone have a few SMD typical failure pictures that I could
share.
They would be posted on the IC706MKIIg forum on Yahoo.com.
