Congratulations to Doug! It's about time AND he didn't even have to break
into his half-fractional element series this week. Admittedly though, that
was a bit of a bummer as I always enjoy reading the stuff he comes up with.
I'm just guessing here, but I would hope that since Doug has never won that
he would put the boys up to some really interesting tasks. That being said,
I will be interested to see the description of how Doug used those two this
week.

Have a great weekend!

Subject: [TN] NTC Element Quiz Answer

Here is the Element Quiz Answer:

The Question:
This element is an "ancient" element as its existence has been known for
over 5000 years. Despite being a poison to the human body, physicians
administered this element for cases of depression, as an emetic and as a
laxative. A sulfide compound containing this element, combined with an
oxidizer is used in the creation of fire for everyday use activities. It is
used to make percussion caps. Which element is being described?

Bonus Question:
What famous composer was thought to have poisoned by this element as part
of depression treatment?

The Answer:
The element is Antimony (Sb)! Antimony derives its name from the Greek
words "anti" and "minos" which mean "not alone". Antimony's symbol - Sb -
comes from its source mineral stibnium. Antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) is
combined with potassium chlorate (KClO3) for use in producing the flammable
match heads. Antimony is also combine with lead to make electrical storage
batteries.

Bonus Answer:
Some scholars believe that Mozart died due to antimony poisoning resulting
from his physicians efforts to treat his depression.

The winner(s) of the weekly element quiz is (drum roll....) Doug Pauls,
Rockwell Collins and he will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for
the week. Yes, I know that hell has frozen over and the Chicago Cubs will
now win the baseball World Series but Doug submitted the only correct
answer (and I didn't give him any assistance). Many folks said "mercury and
Mozart" which is one of the other possible Mozart poisoning stories - lots
of disagreement by the scholars on Mozart's death. The differentiating clue
was that mercury isn't used in the creation of matches or percussion caps.

So far Clumpy and Kloumpios have done the following:

Week 72 Robert Welch, Moog Component Group
-Cool Ed, That will dovetail nicely with a project I have in mind for
them. Coordinating X-Y data from our vision controlled Printer Drill &
Laser into a unified data base where we can be preemptive on establishing
scaling factors for thin innerlayers, flex & soldermask.. I spect Galax is
more boonified than you guys, seeing how we just got the internet last year
over the protest of a bunch of old timey fiddler players

Week 73 Torsten Hagge, Kristronics GmbH
- Clumpy and Kloumpios have been picked up at Hamburg airport and are
looking forward to help with some laboratory work, as until now we havenĀ“t
found anybody to run shortage tests of several kW... behind this they get
the fantastic chance to redefine physical thermodynamic laws as required by
car manufacturer and next weekend I will spend them a Berlin visit, where
they can take off to US from the disaster airport

Week 74 Greg Munie, IPC
- Always a pleasure to see the guys again. And they have a treat coming up:
At last it'll be above freezing for a couple of days! So I'll put them
together sorting tools in the Abbey workshop. Should keep 'em out of
trouble for the week!

Week 75 Doug Pauls, Rockwell Collins
- assisted with ????

Everyone have a safe week.
