Not quite the whole story - but how about this for a piece of useless information:

Colophon is one of the oldest greek, Ionian League” cities that now lies in Turkey. Translation of Colophon is “Summit”.

Around the area there are lots of pine trees - or there were! - and for those who might recall the solderability test flux SMNA from Multicore, that, I believe, is taken from Smyrna (SMNA - get it?) and is a water white pure rosin. As trees mature in different ways, due to climate, so the quality of the rosin varies - just like wine, but less drinkable.

SMyrNA is ancient Greek for Myrrh….a resin that smells lovely.
