Ioan,

I've done incoming testing of adhesives for many years.

As others have said, the vendor data sheets will tell you what speed and spindle they are using to do their acceptance testing.

Unfortunately, just because vendor A uses one combination of speed and spindle, doesn't mean that all will. You will need a variety of spindles, maybe some cone/plate, etc. each Brookfield will have a speed range. For some materials you will want a constant temperature bath

FWIW - I don't ever recall taking issue with viscosity unless there was an obvious shipping problem - like all the dry ice melted on a hot Summer trip across the country, etc. If you are measuring viscosity for internal Manufacturing purposes, then of course you should get a unit.

If you are dealing with reputable adhesives vendors, it is my opinion that you are not adding much value by measuring viscosity and many other parameters.

Also find out specifically how they test their product (what speed and spindles they use) so that you can buy a unit that can handle the requirements.

Ioan,

You may want to check with vendors of the epoxies to see what type of viscometer the use. I know for solder paste the spiral viscometer is recommended. We use a Malcom and have been happy with it.
