A filar micrometer is generally made traceable to SI by using a stage micrometer transfer standard, rather than determining magnification and relating to thread/encoding of the filar.
LECO optical service lab offers 17025 accredited calibration of the stage micrometers, using optical measuring scopes.
They will also travel to your location and calibrate your filars, on the related scope(s).
You can realize much lower uncertainty budgets if you send your stage mic directly to the NIST line-pair calibration lab, but it will cost you.
