Hi Jim,
those SMD chip resistors show a poor quality, mechanical tolerances
(EIA/EIAJ) seem not be respected, probably are cheaper the those of better
quality.
In my experience, those kind of resistors we use to reject back to supplier.

Oggetto: Re: [TN] Chip Resistor termination end solder covering part
marking.
The solder is directly on top of the silkscreen marking. The solder
covering the resistor terminations is part of the chip manufacturing
process. A little sloppy and something that I have not come across before.
Other thoughts?
Jim

Is the solder on top of the white silkscreen markings. Kinda of strange.
Is the extract solder there to cover the Ag termination and keep for
creating whiskers.

Hi All,
Please see links below. The extra solder that is attached to the termination
side but also covering the part marking.
Obviously, our AOI is failing for the part marking which is a pain. I'm
curious on what everyone's thoughts are regarding the extra piece of solder
extending out on the body of the resistor? I've tried to remove the extra
solder but it is attached and doesn't come free. Besides having to deal with
the AOI failures, what do you think about the extra solder and should I
replace the resistors?
