Jason, what Tektronix instrumentation do you have?

I am now contending with the same question you are asking.

The Agilent looks like a vector network analyzer. I wager it is an excellent instrument, but may not be a good choice for the application you are describing.

Polar do not offer the flexibility of Agilent or Tektronix analyzers, but their instruments, as far as I can tell, are less vulnerable to mechanical and ESD damage.

I'll say no more here at the moment, not wanting to risk boring TechNetters with details.

You are welcome to contact me outside the forum. Louis Hart

Subject: [TN] Impedance System, Polar vs. Agilent

Hi,

Our company (a PCB manufacturer) is about to add a new Impedance measuring system to replace the old Tektronix. We are looking at both Agilent (E5071C) and Polar (CITS880). Can anyone advise the pros and cons of the two brands, and what is a better choice for a board fabricator to satisfy a wide variety of customers, especially the Telecomm industry?

Thank you in advanced.

Best regards,
