SN100C -or functional equivalents and similar - is very widely used Pb-free
HASL alloy. The likelihood is therefore that if the spec sheet does not
specify anything more specific than Pb-free that you will end up with it.
We know what we mean by Pb-free as a term in conversation of discussion as
there is a context, but personally I would caution against using terminology
like Pb-free in this way, it's so vague you could end up with anything. I
would caution anyone against both using it or accepting it. Should be
queried on sight, it's worse than saying things like eutectic.

Subject: [TN] Lead Free HASL

Morning all,

When a fab drawing calls out Lead Free HASL, that can be a variety of
different finishes, meaning that the fab vendor can use pretty much
whatever alloy they choose to finish the board as long as it is lead free
and hot air leveled right?

Has anybody ever had any issues with SN100C finished boards? I have a
reason for asking that...

Steve
