Phil,
I would say it is an acceptable practice.  There is a lot of entrenched
rumor and myth from the very early days of ultrasonic cleaning, when the
frequencies and power levels used damaged bond wires in ICs.  But modern
ultrasonic cleaners use frequencies and power levels know to be safe.
