IPC Designer's Council - Silicon Valley Chapter presents
"Gaming the *NEW* Engineering Web"
Presented by Matt Berggren, Sr. Director of Product at Supplyframe / EEFocus.

Wednesday, August 13, 2014
11:30am to 1:30pm
at the Zuken SOZO Center
1900 McCarthy Boulevard, Suite 400
Milpitas, CA 95035

Today's engineering web promises to ignite design at a pace never before seen in our history. With new tools for storing, sharing, & socializing design content; a new batch of engineering resources including cloud based revision management (think: Github), online design software, web based supply chain utilities...and coupled with the explosion in investment from sources like crowdfunding, a revitalized interest in hardware startups, better access to low cost components, off-shore and near-shore manufacturing, and related services; the designer's world is changing and changing fast!

On August 13th come meet the team from Zuken and hear Matt Berggren, former Director of Product at Altium and now Senior Director of Product at Supplyframe (parent to some 70 websites targeting engineers, designers, makers, hackers, entrepreneurs and the like) discuss 'gaming the new engineering web'.  We'll take a look at the range of new tools, what's working, what to watch, what's a flop.  We'll look at how to incorporate the new engineering web into your workflow (think: new utilities, plugins, APIs, content feeds) and how to get new products and even new companies off the ground with the resources available to designers today.

The opportunities to build killer products are unprecedented!  New resources, utilities, & content abound and we'll make sense of these and show you how to fold these into your product development workflow.  So whether it's complex products with tens or even hundreds of players in the process, or you're a hired gun, this discussion has something for everyone.

There will be food and drinks, great people and giveaways courtesy of Supplyframe and the team at Zuken!

Speaker's Background:

Matt Berggren spent nearly 15 years as a trailblazer in EDA, first at Accel (PCAD) and later at Altium, where he last served as Director of Product.  Currently Matt is Senior Director of Product at Supplyframe, responsible for the tools and technologies powering some 70 different engineering websites (Findchips, Parts.io, Hackaday, Datasheet.net, and many many more).  Matt's background is as a hardware and embedded software engineer and has led teams of as many as 30 hardware engineers, designers, and embedded software developers designing products inside of China for the global market.  He's currently sits on the board of an IoT startup in Shanghai and serves as technical & product consultant to multiple companies.
