Hi folks - Here is the Element Quiz Answer (sorry, I was on vacation so the
quiz was late, the same schedule issue will occur for the next couple of
weeks):

The Question:
This element, in its molten state, will corrode any storage container,
it can combine with almost every element on the Periodic Table, and
can change its density by nearly 25% depending on its environment.
This element is associated with the Galileo probe. This element is a
waste product from the generation of electricity. What element is being
described?

The Answer:
The element is Plutonium (Pu). Plutonium is the core of a nuclear bomb and
due to its use in the generation of electricity by nuclear reactors, there
is plenty of "spent Pu" available in the world. The first nuclear bomb was
"Trinity" and it weight 10,000 lbs where as today's nuclear bombs weight
about 250 lbs and are the size of a standard suitcase. Plutonium is found
in nature as a natural decay product of uranium. Plutonium was used as the
power source (thermoelectric generator) for the Galileo (Jupiter) and
Cassini (Saturn) space probes.

The winner of the weekly element quiz is Leland Woodall, CSTech, Inc. and
he will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week.

The EQAB ruled that Richard's response of "ozone" was disallowed as he
stated the Gallileo probe mapped earth rather than Jupiter (right idea,
wrong planetary body).

So far Clumpy and Kloumpios have done the following:

- Picked the boys up at RDU today and had them working on yard stuff
around the house. They really enjoyed working on my John Deere tire
replacement
that I put down last week. Tomorrow we'll hit the plant and they can
assist with metrology chores like cross sections, CMM measurements, and the
occasional SEM analysis.

Week 54 Phil Bavaro, L-3 Com.
-Once the boys get here, I think our Sea World Tower needs some modifications
before the 4th of July fireworks start.

Week 55 Leland Woodall, CSTech Inc.

Everyone have a safe week.
