The peelable may work.
You have to test it first. Some may lift on the edge and be washed off.
Technique may require refinement.
Depends what is being protected.
The mask may or may not seal a component against the wash water.
Variables included surface adhesion, impingement force and angle,
wavesolder operation, method of application.

The water soluble works.
Pay attention to the dry time.
Too little and it washes off in wave.
Too long (day or two) it dries out and cracks.
Both results in solder where it shouldn't be.

Even the peelable can have a problem with too short a time.
