It depends on what you are producing... but for most items defined as EEE as of Jan 2nd 2013 the new version of the RoHS Directive made CE marking a requirement - and so the level of data collection and testing evidence required became more stringent, and RoHS needed to be added to the Declaration of Conformity (along with Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive etc etc and any others that might be applicable...)

For some categories of product this requirement is phased in between this July and July 2019

The EU have produced a very good FAQ document which details all the changes very nicely
