The only time I ever ask for microsections or even photos of microsections is for vendor certification or if we have, or suspect, an issue.  Once I have validated a vendor and have some level of trust, there's no need for me to have the sections.  A good fab shop has more at stake than I do in keeping the processes under control.  If I didn't trust them enough to need to see the sections personally, I wouldn't use them.
