This appears to be the insert on a circular connector, so it should have a related MIL SPEC to reference. Try MIL-STD 1560 or MIL-STD-1669 as source to find the correct workmanship standards. Are these suppose to be sealed connectors? I ask because the flashing appears to be a different material than the phenolic insert.  Regardless, I would not accept connectors like this as this is an obvious workmanship issue.

Anyone seen anything like this? Obviously, our concern is that the excess material will get stuffed down the hole during the mating action, and cause an open.

IPC/WHMA-A-620 only cover cracks or tears in this surface, and 610 doesn't address it at all, are any criteria established elsewhere?
