Hi Louis,

If it is on limited location on the PCB or even on the same limited location on PCBs of the lot, it may be an under vacuum preemption tool scratching or polluting the PCB surface at the PCB workshop.

If it is spread over all pcb surface it could be an insufficient cleaning step leaving some residues interfering afterward with final plating.

Technetters, after my plea for help a few minutes ago, I immediately found how to post pictures. There are four under the link above, showing what appears to be missing copper plating on the surface of circuit boards.

Anyone have a suggestion on what might be causing this phenomenon? Louis Hart
