Denny,

Although I agree with you I think we all knew this was coming.  For many years now the technical presentations at the conference have been migrating more and more to sales presentations rather than peer review journal type presentations.  Fortunately, there are still a good number of people who attend the conference primarily to interact with their colleagues.  The one thing the conference organizers need to consider is making sure the new younger conference attendees get good sound technical information that will help them grow and can be used in their job so that their respective companies will want to send them back.  Hospitality suites might be pleasurable but trying to get their companies to allow them to return to future conferences by telling their companies the conference had a great hospitality suite probably won't convince their management to approve a return to future conferences.
