Hi Phil - have you investigated the use of "solder boots" to prevent
solder getting on areas that you don't want solder on?

Three row 59 position receptacle assy

Airborn RM32209-059-541-02567-H90
Incon AAA059A027A000EZ

These are .075" spaced pins which have gold stacking pins (.244")
protruding through a .063" PWB. The top of the gold plated pins cannot
get contaminated with solder.

Hi Phil,

Can you give a part number of the connector? They aren't PC104 connectors
are they?

Subject: [TN] Laser Thru hole soldering equipment

I have a technical challenge that I need some quick expert help with....

We need to automate a thru hole stacking connector and were hoping to be
able to use a laser soldering system.

How many of you out there actually do this type of selective soldering
already and what equipment is recommended?

The stacking connector requires special treatment as the gold contacts
cannot become contaminated with the solder. We have three row connectors
which take a long time (few hours) to properly solder even with the most
experienced operators. The center pins seem to be impossible for the
automated systems to access with the solder feed systems.

Any help is appreciated.
