Thanks, Dave.
The guys know the drill here so I expect they'll dive right in at the workshop.
Tell them to dress warm!
It's about 10 F here with snow on the way.

Subject: [TN] NTC Friday Element Quiz Answer
Hi folks - Here is the Friday Element Quiz Answer:
The Question:
This element is only produced in very limited quantities and its density is still unknown. The name of this element came from a group who claim of discovering the element was shown to be invalid. The word "dynamite". What
element is being described?
The Answer:
The element is Nobelium (No). The amount of Nobelium produced is so small that almost nothing is understood about its basic elemental properties.
The naming of Nobelium is an interesting story. A group from the Nobel Institute of Physics in Stockholm initially claimed to have discovered element 102 and named it Nobelium after Alfred Nobel (the inventor of dynamite). The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry credited the Swedish team with the discovery. However, the Berkeley group lead by Seaborg could not reproduce the Stockholm group's results but did produce element 102 using a different technique. The Russian team at Dubna was able to reproduce and confirm the Berkeley group's results. The Russian team tried and could not reproduce the Swedish team's results. The long story short is that the Berkeley team was recognized as discovering element 102 but the name "Nobelium" from the Swedish team was used.
The winner of the weekly element quiz is Greg Munie, IPC and he will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week. I saw the boys zooming down the street so they are on their way to see Greg today.
Next week the Friday Element Quiz will be sent out at 4PM Central Standard Time USA.
So far Clumpy and Kloumpios have done the following:

- Our tool and die making team could use some help setting up presses and
maintaining tools, so Clumpy and Kloumpios will get a crash course in
precision metal stamping this week! I hope they brought sunglasses and
swimsuits, because it's still beach weather here in sunny South Florida,
and they should have plenty of time to work on their tan.
Week 32 Raye Rivera, Canoga Perkins
- We are just launching some new products so the boys can help out with
product testing for NEBS qualifications. They also apparently had fun in
Malibu.
Week 33 Steve Creswick
- assisted with ????
Week 34 Dewey Whittaker, Honeywell
- the "Boys" and I went to Las Vegas to polish up on their comedy act. I
told them that "what happens in Las Vegas, Stays in Las Vegas". I think
they took me literally. I got a note from a Dancer that they left contact
information in the secret safe where Doug keeps the key to his Mountain
Dew stash. Their previous time spent with Graham paid off as they also
took my American Express card. I hope they get back safe.
Week 35 Don Vischulis
- It was a productive week. They arrived a bit later than planned on
Friday because their John Deeres had to slow down on the hills and curves
in the Galena area. Those buckets really affect their cornering. Over the
weekend we took in some local culture with a trip north of the Cheddar
Curtain to the brewery in New Glarus, WI. If they talk about Fat Squirrel,
Spotted Cow, Two Women, and Totally Naked understand that these are styles
produced at the brewery. During the week the boys helped me write the
trip report for an assessment of an assembly operation. Their knowledge of
the IPC specs was very helpful. They also helped compare gerber files for
replacement artwork against a sample Nd assisted with SEM work in the
Materials Lab.
Week 36 Greg Munie, IPC
- assisted with ????
Everyone have a safe week!
