Fellow TechNetters:
Ref: IPC-2221A, Table 6-1
I followed this thread for some time but did not see and/or hear the FINAL resolution. The same phrases kept bouncing back and forth. But no real numeric value. Does this value take into consideration HDI technology and high speed / fast switching circuits?
I want to apply this criteria to hole drill misregistration, Power to ground.
Victor,

The minimum electrical clearance is the minimum spacing allowed between two non-common conductors. It is almost always determined by the design engineer, and is almost always (should be always) documented on the PWB drawing. However, it applies to more than just the distance between traces and solder joints; it is the defined minimum distance between any non-common conductors anywhere on the finished assembly, including the components.
