Steve,

J-STD-001, class 3, contains most of the end item requirements from WS6536 but WS6536 imposed a large amount of "how-to" requirements that are not covered by the J-STD-001, class 3 spec. In addition, you will find that some of the end item requirements in WS6536 are more stringent than what is allowed by J-STD-001, Class 3 and the J-STD-001 requirements have evolved over time as more data on electronic reliability versus end item requirements so depending upon the J-STD-001 revision that is contracted the end item requirements will differ slightly to significantly.

Can anyone tell me if the Class 3 requirements of J-STD-001 are comparable to Navy Weapons Specification WS-6536? It appears as though WS-6536 was replaced by MIL-STD-2000, but I'm not 100% sure. Any insight would be appreciated.

Regards,
Steve Vargas
