On Portable devices that may well be the case - it is on mine, but on my PC
I use rules to separate out TechNet stuff to its own folder which is sorted
by subject and then by date. Rules then sort to different inboxes according
to what address/account identity I am using and these are sorted by time or
subject also. In any case you can change the sorts in just a click if you
want to.

So sorting by subject works by presenting a discussion in chronological
order. Until someone breaks the sequence in one of the ways suggested by
Brian. I usually stay with the mainstream as on a busy techie day tracking
the multiples it is not always obvious to see the others. Hijacking is
considered bad manners on other forums I frequent and is usually objected
to.

Best Wishes

Mike

Don, totally agree on" checks email less frequently ". Org with Subject
matter better for the pull email type. However, it is functional not as well
for us work bees that dealing with multiple working groups, with demand to
response almost immediately. (I think real estate agents, judge fund traders
, engineering groups might find push email is necessitate and Org by time is
better). I personally got very upset when some of the emails ranked time
wrong due to time zone change. (dave's Friday question for example), you
have to dig out the response based on discovery, facts, and derision making
sequence with logic. My 2 cents.

Bev

Emails in Outlook can be organized by subject rather than by date received.
This organizational method is the default in some email programs. It does
make it easier to follow discussions especially if one checks emails less
frequently.
