I'm guessing that you don't want to use a counting machine.

Since the parts are on a standard pitch, you could measure (assuming we are talking short strips here), or come up with a guide that indicated the quantity at different lengths. Of course, you'd have to have a different guide for each pitch and match up to the right one each time.

Dear Technetters:

For those of you doing protos who deal with "cut tape" as a feed in to the feeder is there an easy way to count the number of parts each and every time? It takes a lot of time to count these parts (and it is soooo boring) and then cut the strip to the correct size.
