We're very happy with the inspection results from our Omron VT-RNS2 system.
It utilizes a 3-color LED dome-shaped illumination camera system that identifies the solder topography (fillets & wetting) and can catch micro-fine bridges between non-common areas. This is a logarithm based system, not a comparison based system, which is why we chose it- to better analyze solder quality and not only presence/amount.

Hi All,
Any AOI systems out there that will pick up small solder shorts after assembly?
Thanks. Steve Kelly
