Thanks and yes, but I don't remember sprinkling my conversations with Yiddishisms.

Nah. More along the lines of having something wonderful/valuable grow out of something that starts as an irritant. Kind of like our friendship <grin>.

I resemble that remark. Your reference to "pearls of wisdom" was a reference to the mingling of the cultured and un-cultured.

Yes, I did catch that. But as you indicate, the IPC has an office in India. And while the asker may not be able to physically attend the meetings, we are starting to get more connected now that WiFi is everywhere. A LOT of standards specification work is being moved along by Webex or similar web-based meetings, so participation in IPC should not be based on whether you can physically make the meetings.

Yes, the after-meeting stuff would be much more fun if you attended. I guess the point being is that a lot of networking goes on outside of the meetings and you get the priceless pearls of wisdom often through such networking.

Good response, except the asker has an email address that suggests he lives in India, and may be unlikely to go to US IPC meetings.
Also, not everyone goes out for beer and pizza after the meetings, I usually don't.

IPC has an office in Bangalore, some of my Indian colleagues attend their meetings.

You ask a question far too broad for a reasonable answer. As a start, I would recommend any books by the late Dr. Werner Englemeyer, an active participation in Technet until his death. You can search on the Technet Archives using his name as a keyword and probably still be reading this time next year.

Are you talking about reliability of the bare board or of the finished assembly? Two very different things, but related.

Brian Ellis's text on cleaning should be on everyone's desk.

Clyde Coombs has authored an excellent reference book "Printed Circuits Handbook", published by McGraw Hill. Mine is the 5th edition but it might

be up to the sixth edition by now.

Charlie Harper has a good book, Electronic Materials and Processes, also
McGraw Hill, 6th edition.

Beyond that, it depends on what aspect of reliability you are looking for.

I will say though, that if you really want the best education in
electronics reliability, stuff you won't find in most books, get involved
with the IPC standards and attend what meetings you can. I can't begin to

tell you the education it has provided me over the years. You learn as
much over pizza and beer after the meetings as you do in the meetings
itself.

Dear All,

Which book should i study to understand the reliability engineering of
PCB. regards,
