Hi Graham,
such kind of problem could happen also when using PSA (pressure
sensitive activate) cover tape ( it is very sticky on both sides L-R ), when
not well centred over the carrier tape, some "glue" can get in contact with
the top of component body.
Fortunately very few component fabricator use PSA cover tape.
The most common cover tape (may be more the 95% of total components supplied
in tape and reel )is the thermal-press sealing.

Pls, do a check if your components are T&R by using PSA cover tape.

Regards

Gabriele

Oggetto: Re: [TN] Ping

Hi Graham,

We saw something similar a couple years back, also on LEDs. We concluded the
sticky stuff on top of the LES was transferred from the tape used to seal
the pockets on the tape and reel packaging. Some reels had it, others did
not.

I suggest you check the tape from the reel and if it is stickier than others
send feedback to your supplier. As far as I'm concerned this should be a
rejectable condition since it is a form of contamination.

Best regards,
Raye Rivera

Too busy Ed!!

You have any tips on how to solve the problem of LEDs sticking to the
placement nozzle of my PnP machine? The tops of the things are sticky!
Son of a $#@&*$(#&@($...
