Hi Graham,

We saw something similar a couple years back, also on LEDs. We concluded the sticky stuff on top of the LES was transferred from the tape used to seal the pockets on the tape and reel packaging. Some reels had it, others did not. 

I suggest you check the tape from the reel and if it is stickier than others send feedback to your supplier. As far as I'm concerned this should be a rejectable condition since it is a form of contamination.

You have any tips on how to solve the problem of LEDs sticking to the 
placement nozzle of my PnP machine?  The tops of the things are sticky!
